Safety Guidelines

• Look at who is already in the pool. Every pool shows the names of the students in it before you join.
• Message the pool chat first if anything is unclear — the meeting point, the exact time, how much luggage there is.
• Travel with someone you know when you can, especially late at night. Two of you can join the same pool together.

Before a late or long trip, send a friend the route, the time, and the cab number once you have it. It costs nothing and it is the single most useful thing on this page.

• Check the cab. Confirm the number plate and the driver's name before you get in — for a private booking, both are in My Rides.
• Meet in a lit, populated spot. The main gate is better than a side road.
• If it feels wrong, do not get in. You are not obliged to take a ride you are uneasy about, and no explanation is owed to anyone.

• Keep your phone charged and reachable.
• Sit where you are comfortable, and keep your bag with you.
• Agree the split before you arrive so there is no argument at the destination — the fare shown in the pool is the number to work from.
• Wear the seatbelt. Ask the driver to slow down if you need to; it is your journey too.

• Turn up on time. Three other people planned their day around the departure.
• If you cannot make it, say so in the pool chat as early as you can, and leave the pool so the seat frees up.
• Pay your share promptly.

If you are in immediate danger, call 112 — the all-India emergency number. For women's helpline assistance, call 1091. Contact campus security if you are on or near campus.

Poolmate cannot help you in the moment — it is a website, and nobody is watching it at 2 AM. Call the people who can.

If another student behaves badly — abusive messages, repeatedly not turning up, anything that made you feel unsafe — mail support@poolmate.in with the date, the route, and what happened. Accounts can be suspended or removed. Reports are read by a person and are not shared with the person you reported.
