Terms of Service

Poolmate introduces students who are travelling the same way at the same time, so they can share a cab and split the fare. That is the whole service.

Poolmate is not a taxi company. It does not own cabs, employ drivers, or carry anyone anywhere. The journey is between you, the other students in your pool, and the driver.

• Use your real name and a phone number that reaches you. The people you are about to share a cab with are relying on both.
• Your account is yours. Do not let someone else book or travel under it.
• Keep your password to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else has it.

Poolmate only works if the pools on it are real. Do not:

• Create pools you do not intend to travel on.
• Join a pool and repeatedly fail to turn up. The others planned around you.
• Use the pool chat to harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or to advertise anything.
• Try to reach parts of the site or other people's data that are not yours.

Accounts that do these things can be suspended or removed.

Poolmate charges nothing. No booking fee, no commission. You pay the driver directly, in the cab.

Fares shown on the site are the expected cost of the journey, divided by the number of people in the pool. They are an estimate to help you decide, not a quote. Waiting time, a change of route, tolls or a driver's own pricing can make the real fare differ. Settling up is between you, the others in the cab, and the driver.

You can leave a pool, and cancel a private cab request before a driver has accepted it, from My Rides. Once a ride has departed it can no longer be joined or left on the site. If plans change, tell the others in the pool chat — early enough for them to arrange something else.

Poolmate is a noticeboard, not a chaperone. It does not vet the students who use it beyond requiring an account, and it is not responsible for what happens on a journey: the conduct of anyone in the cab, the driving, delays, missed trains or flights, lost belongings, or any disagreement about money.

The site is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, and a pool may not fill. Read the safety guidelines before your first shared ride — they are short, and they are the practical part of this section.

Poolmate is built and run by a student. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Manipal University Jaipur.
